    National Flood Safety Awareness Week

    Recent severe weather events over the past year causing extensive river flooding and areal flooding across the state remind Floridians that they should be prepared for the possibility of floods.

    The National Weather Service and state emergency management officials encourage residents to update their preparedness plans this week during National Flood Safety Awareness Week, March 15-19, 2010. National Flood Safety Awareness Week is intended to highlight some of the many ways floods can occur, the hazards associated with floods, and what you can do to save life and property.

    DEM featured in ESRI publications

    ESRI Press published an article written by DEM Geographic Information Systems coordinator Soheila Ajabshir and DEM mitigation expert Frank Reddish in its GIS for Decision Making and Public Policy Making. The article is about major flood mitigation project in Miami-Dade County the DEM coordinated. Click here to read the article
