The County collaborates with the American Red Cross (ARC), Animal Services Department, the Miami-Dade Health Department and Jackson Memorial Hospital to operate all of our evacuation centers.  "The County and its partner agencies continuously strive to enhance resources and services to our vulnerable populations at our evacuation centers," stated Emergency Management Director Curtis Sommerhoff.  "Our commitment to improving services is evident by engaging members of the special needs community to review our emergency plans and participate in our drills and exercises." 

Miami-Dade County has an Emergency Evacuation Assistance Program (EEAP), which is a registry of people with special needs that require assistance during times of evacuation.  The EEAP provides transportation and sheltering during disasters.  People with Special Needs (PSN) can register for EEAP by calling 3-1-1 or the application can be downloaded from the following webpage: http://www.miamidade.gov/oem/eeap.asp
