The division has a staff 15 full-time and part-time positions. Its responsibilities include developing and monitoring administrative policies and procedures, providing personnel, accounting, budgeting, procurement, sales, and customer service support. The administrative division is also responsible for processing application for tradesman and contractor licensing, administering examinations for certificates of competency and eligibility.
Contractor Licensing Section
The Contractor Licensing Section processes license applications for tradesman and contractors in 6 major categories. They are Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, LP Gas, Building and Building Specialty trades.
We issue 110 different types of licenses within these categories. The Construction Trades Qualifying Board has authority over the types of licenses and scopes of licenses we issue and we are governed by Chapter 10 of the Miami-Dade County Code.
Our responsibilities include the processing of new applications (Personal or Business), processing renewal applications (Personal or Business), Change of Affiliation, place licenses in voluntary Inactive Status, Reciprocity, and administering examinations.
The Contractor Licensing section has a tremendous amount of public contact with the construction industry and the general public. Every attempt to focus on delivering the best quality of service possible to our customers
