    Adopt a Buoy

Want to help the Miami-Dade County Buoy Program? Adopt a buoy!

Individuals, groups and corporations can help protect natural and artificial reefs from anchor damage by making donations to help fund the maintenance and installation of the mooring buoys.

There are several levels of contribution:

Coral Reef Ambassador - Donation of $2,000
Your donation will pay for installation and one year of maintenance for one mooring buoy or 2 years of maintenance for one mooring buoy.

Coral Reef Benefactor - Donation of $1,000
Your donation will help for one year of maintenance for one mooring buoy OR help pay for the installation of one mooring buoy at an approved site.

Coral Reef Sponsor - Donation of $500
Your donation will pay for six months of maintenance for one mooring buoy.
Large Coral Colony Sponsor - Donation of $250
Your donation will pay for three months of maintenance for one mooring buoy.
Small Coral Colony Sponsor - Donation of $75
Your donation will help cover a portion of one quarterly maintenance inspection for one mooring buoy.

Coral Polyp Sponsor - Donation of $25
Your donation will help cover a portion of a monthly maintenance inspection for one mooring buoy.

A donation at the Coral Reef Ambassador and Benefactor levels will get you acknowledged as a sponsor on the DERM Mooring Buoy Program website (unless you wish to remain anonymous).

A contribution at any level would be greatly appreciated. To make a donation to the Miami-Dade Mooring Buoy Program, please fill out the Adopt-a-Buoy form  and send it to the following address:

    Department of Environmental Resources Management
    Restoration and Enhancement Section
    Mooring Buoy Program
    701 NW 1st Court
    Miami, FL 33136

If you have any questions on adopting a mooring buoy or on the program itself, please send an e-mail to reefs@miamidade.gov or call 305-372-6864.
