South Canyon

South Canyon

Description: Shallow first reef tract with old dredged "canyon" (less than 2 feet of relief). Threatened Staghorn coral present, as well as other hard corals, gorgonians and sponges. Numerous fish also present due to relief compared to adjacent reef areas.

Depth: 15 feet

Number of Buoys: Three permitted; two installed

Sponsors: We still need sponsors for the installation of one more buoy at this site, as well as the ongoing maintenance required for the existing two buoys. Learn about adopting a buoy if you would like to help!
