Permit Applications

Welcome to the Permit Applications page. If this is your first visit, please read the instructions on the Permits page for instructions. For more information on permit applications, call 305-372-6789 or email derm@miamidade.gov.

  • One-Time Permits may be required prior to construction or modification of a building structure or property (i.e. construction of a dock or pier or the removal of a tree).
  • Operating Permits may be required from certain businesses or industries to renew periodically. For example, this includes facilities such as a small mechanical repair shop and a sewage treatment plant.
  • Other Forms & Affidavits, in most cases, are necessary to comply with state or federal requirements.
  • Plan Review documents are needed for the review and completion of construction permits such as Certificates of Use and Occupancy, etc.

Please note that the Permit Applications table below lists the different types of permits; explanations for each permit; the corresponding permit applications; and frequently asked questions (FAQs) for each permit, such as how to process the permit, any associated costs and contact information.

To use this table, first think of the project you are doing -- i.e., I want to build a dock. Then look for that type of activity on the left-hand column under "dock" construction or repair. In the middle column, you will find the permit application that is required for this activity, and in the right-hand column, FAQs associated with this permit application.

Request time extensions for permits

Those requiring a time extension for a Class II, Class III, Class V or Class VI permit need to submit the following application 30 days before the permit expires. For more information, please call 305-372-6681.

Request to transfer active Class II, III, V, and VI permits

A person requiring to transfer a Class II, III, V and VI permit when a property is sold to another person or entity needs to submit an application prior to 120 days after the date of transfer of ownership, or 90 days before the permit expires, whichever comes first. Permits are voided if no transfer is completed within the 120 days of the date of change in ownership or 90 days of permit expiration. Please use the Permit Transfer Form to submit your application. For more information, call 305-372-6681.
