    Permits

To help guide you to find the right permit, we've put together a directory of all of the Department of Environmental Resources Management's (DERM) permit applications.

Storage Tank Facility Annual Operating Permit no longer necessary

A current and valid storage tank registration placard issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection satisfies the requirement of obtaining an operating permit as set forth in Section 24-18(12) of Chapter 24 of the Code of Miami-Dade County.

    Request time extensions for permits

Those requiring a time extension for a Class II, Class III, Class V or Class VI permit need to submit the following application 30 days before the permit expires. For more information, please call 305-372-6681.

Getting it right the first time: home demolition permits

DERM is now conducting walk-thru reviews of single-family home demolition permits (upto four units). Applicants for these permits will have to complete an Affidavit for Asbestos Notice/Notice of Asbestos Renovation or Demolition . The affidavit is also available at the Miami-Dade Permitting and Inspection Center (PIC). The completed form needs to be submitted to the DERM counter in PIC for review.

Once reviewed, if determined that the demolition is in fact not subject to National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations, DERM will approve its portion of the review and the applicant will then return to the building process for completion of the demolition permit. There will be no charge for this review. If the demolition is deemed to be subject to NESHAP regulations, an asbestos survey, a notification and a process fee would be required before approval can be granted.
For additional information, please call 786-315-2800.

Getting it right the first time: tie beam inspection holds

DERM's Office of Plan Review Services has implemented a Tie Beam Inspection Hold on all new construction and substantial additions. This means that an Under Construction Elevation Certificate showing floor elevation, adjacent grade elevation and crown of road elevation will be required. For more information, call 786-315-2800.

Getting it right the first time: workshop for building officials

DERM presented a workshop for building officials in order to improve customer service for the residents of Miami-Dade County and enhance coordination between the various municipalities. Most municipalities of Miami-Dade attended this workshop. For more information on future workshops, please call 786-315-2800.

Getting it right the first time: Some DERM review programs have moved

In order to improve on efficiency, DERM has moved the following review programs to the Miami-Dade Permitting and Inspections Center (West Dade Office) located at 11805 SW 26th Street. For more information, please call us at 305-372-6899 or 786-315-2800.
