Miami-Dade County encourages those interested in making monetary donations to the Haitian relief effort to be cautious and to select a reputable organization.
Monetary Donations
Monetary donations are the quickest and best way to help those in need in Haiti. If you have the ability to donate in this manner, your contribution will have a greater impact on the Haiti relief effort. Please donate to the trusted organization of your choice. Communication Hubs
Information and communications hubs have been set up for the Haitian community.

Edison/Little River Neighborhood Center

The center is providing internet access to social networking and news sites, phone lines with long distance service to Haiti (provided by Comcast), crisis/grief counselors, and bulletin boards for providing both information and the posting of missing relative's pictures as of January 14th.

Provides internet access to social networking and news sites, and phone lines with long distance service to Haiti (provided by AT&T) as of January 21st.
These hubs will share information with our community, as well as coordinate with our Department of Emergency Management to provide up-to-date information about developments on the island. Translators and Creole-speaking social workers will also be on site.
MDFR’s US&R Team Deployed to Haiti
On Jan. 14. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's (MDFR) Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) Team was deployed to Haiti. The US&R Team's mission is to respond to natural and man-made disasters by providing search and rescue support, medical support, communications and damage assessment, and to coordinate the distribution of relief supplies.

Fundraising Campaign Continues
The City of North Miami is collecting monetary donations for relief efforts in Haiti.

Contributions can be made via cash, money order or check, payable to the City of North Miami and note Haiti Relief Efforts in the memo section.

Contributions are accepted in person at North Miami City Hall - Cashier winder (first floor), 776 NE 125 ST, in North Miami; Mondays through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
