Miami-Dade Park Internship Program

Complete your internship with the Nation's premier Parks team! 

The following opportunities are available:

  • Director's Office
    Get high level exposure to the overall operation, administration and planning associated with a large and multifunctional park system.   

  • Operations and Recreation
    Gain a variety of operational management experiences in large resource-based metropolitan parks, community recreation parks, cultural facilities and region administration.

  • Therapeutic Recreation
    Be prepared to sit for your national exam after participating in an internship which follows the requirements documented by the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation.

  • Planning and Development
    Get hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: design, urban and regional planning, park and recreation open space planning, design and construction management, and project scheduling.

  • Communications
    Work directly with marketing professionals to assist in the development of marketing materials crucial to the department's success, such as press releases, advertisements and collaterals.

  • Administration
    Rotate through the administrative divisions of finance, budget, human resources, IT, fundraising, grants, strategic planning and contracts management to become knowledgeable about these various functions.

Internships are unpaid, and hours are flexible.  Interns are subject to a criminal background review.
