Camps will be held January 4 - June 10, 2016, Monday - Friday, throughout the school year and school vacation breaks, from 2 - 6 p.m., at 32 Miami-Dade park locations. Spring break camps will run from March 21 - 25.
- Price: $25- $35 per week. Qualifying families can receive financial aid. Miami-Dade County Parks also offers transportation from select schools to select Fit2Play™ park sites for an additional charge.
Kids will enjoy fun, fully-supervised programming after school with activities focused on fitness, nutrition and wellness, and developing their appreciation of nature, science and the cultural arts.
Each day's session begins with homework help, during the school year, and is followed by Sports, Play and Active Recreation for Kids (SPARK) activities.
Camp leaders are trained recreation professionals, and certified physical fitness and nutrition specialists. With parental permission, registrants may participate in the UHealth Study used to track fitness levels, nutritional needs and progress. Physical fitness assessments include a sit-and-reach test, timed sit-up and push-up test, pacer test, and 400-meter run.
Under the supervision of Miami-Dade Parks certified therapeutic recreation specialists, registrants with disabilities can choose to participate in groups composed exclusively of kids with disabilities or alongside children without disabilities.
