Within Miami-Dade Parks, the Division of Arts and Culture manages two of the County’s leading arts education facilities, African Heritage Cultural Arts Center and Raices Hispanic Heritage Cultural Arts Center.
Located in Liberty City, African Heritage Cultural Arts Center was founded in 1975 to serve as the nesting ground for emerging talent in the performing and visual arts, providing inspiration and encouragement to young people within the community. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center has fulfilled its mission to the community for over 30 years by providing a means for youth, ages 6-16, to discover their creative potential and develop their artistic talents through its Summer, Spring, Winter, and After School Arts Academies.
In May of 1996, Miami-Dade Parks filled the need of the community for an arts education facility dedicated to the promotion and instruction of the arts and culture found in Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain. Students, ages 6 -14, have the opportunity to learn about traditional and contemporary dance, music, and visual arts.
