    Canoe Trips

    Eco-Adventures has put together a series of canoe tours that offer you an opportunity to explore the popular waterways of our Miami-Dade Parks and related resource areas. Explore with us these tropical waters as we take you out on an unforgettable discovery of nature.

    Led by experienced and knowledgeable naturalist-guides, these trips include the best gear and lots of creative touches to enhance the enjoyment of your outdoor adventure experience. Paddlers can choose from canoe trips that vary in endurance and lengths from half to full day trips. Be sure to check out the ratings for each trip. Most are easy to moderate. For special groups, we can structure your trip to match your desired level of fun, time and challenge

    What To Bring
    For your comfort and enjoyment of your canoe tour, please consider bringing the following for all tours unless otherwise stated:

    • Snack
    • Water (1 quart minimum)
    • Sunscreen
    • Sunglasses
    • Insect repellent
    • Shoes you don’t mind getting wet
    • Wide brimmed hat
    • Dress for the weather
    • Sealable plastic bag or container to secure important belongings. It is suggested that you place your belongings in a sealable plastic bag or waterproof container.

    Don’t forget your “Sense of Adventure!”

    Eco-Adventure Canoe Tour Highlights
    For all dates, times, fees and tour reservations unless otherwise stated, call the Eco-Adventures Office at 305-365-3018, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–2 p.m.

    The following fees apply unless otherwise stated:

    • Non-Residential Fee: $40.00/Person.
      Ask us about our discount rates for groups of five or more.
    • Residential Fee: $25.00/Adult, $15.00/Child (Under 14 years)

    • Bill Sadowski Park to Coral Reef Park Sunset Canoe Tour
      Hours: 3-4
      Rated: Moderate
      Take a leisurely paddle to Coral Reef Park in search of wildlife, have a rest and a snack, and then head back to the park in time to enjoy a beautiful South Florida sunset. 
    • Crandon Park’s Canoe Adventure
      Hours: 3-4
      Rated: Easy to Moderate
      Canoe along the peaceful mangrove shore of Key Biscayne where Great blue herons, Spotted eagle ray, Upside down jellyfish, and Green iguanas bask among the mangrove fringes.
    • Deering Estate Chicken Key Canoe Adventure
      Hours: 3-4
      Rated: Easy to Moderate
      Fee: $25 Per Person

      Join Deering Estate Naturalists for a canoe tour on beautiful Biscayne Bay and explore the historic island named Chicken Key. Discover wildlife that inhabits the coastal waters of the bay.
    • Deering Estate “Moonlight” Excursion Canoe Tour

      Glide across Biscayne Bay to Chicken Key by the light of the full moon on this naturalist-guided canoe tour leaving from the Charles Deering Estate.
    • Greynolds Park Historic Oleta River Canoe Tour
      Hours: 3-4
      Rated: Moderate
      Catch a view of many wading birds and mammals that inhabit the river eco-system and visit an undisturbed Tequesta Indian midden.
    • Historic Gables Waterway Canoe Tour
      Hours: 3-4 hours
      Rated: Easy
      Take this guided tour on the Gables Waterway that is rich in history and wildlife nestled in one of Miami-Dade County’s most popular and beautiful communities.
    • Matheson Hammock Park Canoe Adventure
      Hours: 3-4
      Rated: Easy
      Let go of your stress for a tour of fun and adventure that takes you along the shore of Biscayne Bay and its coastal communities.
    • Matheson Hammock Park Sunset & Sunrise Canoe Tours
      Hours: 3-4
      Rated: Easy
      Treat yourself to a real but relaxing adventure exploring the mangrove creeks and estuaries of Biscayne Bay at sunrise or as the sun sets with the magnificent view of the Miami skyline in the horizon.
    • Matheson Hammock to the Gables Waterway Canoe Tour
      Hours: 4-5
      Rated: Moderate
      Fee: $30.00/Adult; $15.00/Child (under 14 years)
      This adventure begins at Matheson Hammock Park, one of Miami-Dade County’s first parks. Explore the mangrove-lined shoreline of Biscayne Bay where wildlife abounds as you paddle to the Coral Gables Waterway.
    • Indian Key Canoe & Snorkel Tour
      Hours: 8-10  (Includes transportation time)
      Rated: Moderate
      Fee: $45.00/Per Person (Includes transportation in Eco-vans to tour site on Lower Matecumbe Key) Snorkel Gear available for rent - $7.00/Per Person
      Take a step back in time on this popular canoe and snorkel adventure of Indian Key, the first government seat of Miami-Dade County. Join us as we retell historic events and spend the day exploring the island on foot followed by a cool and refreshing snorkel in the surrounding clear waters teeming with marine life. Tour is offered during the warmer months.
    • Turner River Everglades Canoe Tour
      Hours: 8-10 (Includes transportation time)
      Rated: Moderate–Difficult (Due to trip distance and endurance needed to paddle)
      Fee: $45.00/Per Person (Includes transportation in Eco-vans to Collier County)
      The Turner River is one of the most beautiful rivers that traverses the Everglades. You will glide past ancient Calusa Indian mounds on your way to Chokoloskee Bay. This tour will provide an excellent opportunity to see alligators, otters, and a wide assortment of wading birds along with the Everglades most interesting plants.
    • Introduction to Canoeing Workshop
      Hours: 2-3
      Fee: $20.00/Person (All equipment is provided)
      This workshop is for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of canoeing, basic strokes, steering, and safety skills.  A minimum of six participants is necessary to conduct workshop. Please call the Eco-Adventures Office at 305-365-3018 for dates and times.

    Customized Canoe Tours
    Customized canoe tours can be arranged for groups of five or more by calling the Eco-Adventures Office at 305-365-3018.

    Fully equipped canoe rentals are available at the following Miami-Dade Parks sites:

    Rentals at the Nature Center
    All participants must a sign Rental Agreement. A Release of Liability form must be completed and signed by parent or guardian for minors  (under 18 years of age).
