The Trail Glades Sport Shooting Range offers a 7-yard to 100-yard pistol range, a 25 to 100-yard rifle range, five skeet fields, six trap fields, one international skeet field and a 69 position pistol/rifle range. Training classes in basic pistol safety, and rifle safety.

Trail Glades Range Dedication Ceremony
Come out on March 6 at 10:00 a.m. for a dedication ceremony and celebrate the opening of the recently remodeled Rifle, Pistol and Practical Shooting Range at Trail Glades Range Sport Shooting Facility. Guests include Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, State and County officials, and members of sport shooting clubs. Trail Glades Range Sport Sporting Facility is located at 17601 SW 8 Street.

Project Overview
The work consists of significant improvements to the existing rifle and pistol shooting range, and includes the renovation and relocation of existing backstops and berms. During this process, the lead projectiles accumulated over the years will be removed from the backstops and these areas will be re-graded and reconditioned. Once completed, the redesigned and improved range will be in full alignment with the industry best management practices for a recreational shooting facility.
Additional enhancements include the demolition and replacement of the existing shooting-range firing line and canopy cover, with a new shooting range firing line and roof structure with an integrated "No Blue Sky" baffle feature, which will assist in preventing errant projectiles from leaving the range. New furnishings will include rifle/pistol portable wood and fixed concrete shooting benches (68 positions in total), rifle racks, rear sitting benches and bench rest tables. Also included in the site features will be new target holders that are marked with numbers to represent each shooting position. The target holders are inserted in pre-measured marked and fixed locations at the 7yd, 15yd, 25yd and 50yd for pistol side and 25yd, 50yd, 75yd, and 100yd for rifle side, preventing the positioning of targets in the wrong locations. Additionally, the pistol line will have side wire-mesh screens preventing uncontrolled errant discharged casings. The scope of work also includes the construction of related site and electrical work required to complete these improvements.
Project Duration
The Rifle and Pistol Range project is scheduled to start August 24, 2009 with a December 22, 2009 completion date. Please note, the construction periods listed herein are estimated and can vary due to weather, materials and other unanticipated issues. In order to minimize the period that the rifle, pistol and practical range will be closed for shooting, we are implementing a construction phasing plan:
PHASE I - The Rifle, Pistol & Practical Range will not be open for shooting for sixty (60) calendar days; the contractor will proceed to work on all elements, but will concentrate their efforts on completing all down range work elements for a period of sixty (60) calendar days (once Phase I is completed, a temporary firing line with a limited number of shooting positions will be provided for the use of our patrons, while the remainder of the work is safely completed behind this line).
PHASE II - The contractor continues working and completes the remainder of the work elements behind the temporary firing line during a period of sixty (60) calendar days.
Work Completed or Underway to Date
 During the week ending December 18, the contractor continued with the installation of the targeting systems sleeves, and started the installation of the fixed wood benches under the canopy (the movable benches also arrived on site). The east masonry wall was closed, and the installation of the sodding is underway. Final inspections are being scheduled.

 During the week ending December 11, the final grading of the range field and the sheathing of the canopy roof were completed. The installation of the metal roof will take place next while the wood benches under the canopy are also being installed. Other final activities underway are the layout and installation of the targeting systems sleeves; painting of the canopy structure; and installation of light fixtures; strobe lights; and speakers. The sodding of the field range is scheduled to start the week of December 14th.

 During the week ending December 4, the contractor completed grading the range field on the west (rifle) side, grading for the east side well underway along with the canopy roof sheathing which are both targeted for completion by December 7th following which the metal roof installation will start. We want to thank each and every one of you (our patrons) for your patience and support during the renovation period. The work is very close to completion and we are looking forward to the full reopening of this one-of-a-kind facility.
