    Welcome to Planning Research

    We provide demographic, economic, geographic analysis and other general and special research studies related to the functions of the Department of Planning & Zoning.

    We also participate in the preparation and maintenance of the Land Use, Capital Improvements, Economic and Housing Elements of the Comprehensive Development Master Plan (CDMP)

     Globe in hands  Our Demographic Unit
    • Produces population and housing studies for Miami-Dade County and various subareas.
    • Prepares population estimates and projections.
    • Prepares and updates various maps.

     pie chart  Our Economic Unit
    • Conducts studies where economic analysis is applied to a number of issues affecting Miami-Dade County.
    • Prepares employment projections, monitors economic conditions and trends.
    • Maintains a Capital Improvements database
    • Provides economic and technical assistance to other County agencies.

    • Develops and maintains a Geographic Information System (GIS) database containing current land uses.
    • Provides specialized and thematic mapping.
