Ongoing Research

 

With the Census 2010 data already out, the demographers in Planning Research are working on the updated Population Projections for Miami-Dade County.

 

The previous update of the population projections countywide and for the 32 minor statistical areas in Miami-Dade covered the period from 2006 to 2030.

Planning Research

Planning Research is responsible for economic, demographic analysis and disseminating its findings through reports to County departments, the Board of County Commissioners, and the public. It is charged with the task of developing the Economic, Housing and Capital Improvements (CI) Elements of the Comprehensive Development Master Plan (CDMP) and to provide support to the County's planning overall efforts.

  • Produces population and housing studies for Miami-Dade County and various subareas.
  • Prepares population estimates and projections.
  • Provides geospatial analysis and maps.

  • Conducts studies where economic analysis is applied to a number of issues affecting Miami-Dade County.
  • Prepares employment projections, monitors economic conditions and trends.
  • Maintains a Capital Improvements database.

  • Develops and maintains a Geographic Information System (GIS) database containing current land uses.
  • Provides specialized and thematic mapping.
