Flanked by U.S. and Brazilian flags, Port of Miami Director Bill Johnson's message emphasized the great importance of increasing trade with Brazil. The Brazilian Port of Santos is the largest port in Latin America, and the Port of Miami is Florida's leading containerized cargo port, along with being the closest U.S. port to Brazil.
The visiting delegation included Brazilian journalists, elected officials, along with the Santos port director. The State of Florida's number one trading partner is Brazil, and the Port of Miami and the Port of Santos are looking to further increase in trade. Both the ports also have plans to dredge their harbors to accommodate larger ships.
