Media Requests

Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) is committed to working cooperatively with the news media to keep the public informed of MDT activities and incidents that might impact the community.

As an essential part of our dedication to excellence and compliance to public records access, MDT maintains records and information pertaining to transit-related operations. As applicable, the necessary  Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) approval will be obtained in order to comply with the release of MDT facility building plans and records. 

In accordance with Section 119.071, Florida Statutes, all media requests to inspect or copy video records will be handled by MDT promptly.

While MDT's Public Information staff will always assist the media and other members of the public with all inquiries and requests for information, the following mandated policies should be kept in mind:

• MDT will not disclose information if law enforcement has advised MDT that such release would impede or interfere with criminal investigation or prosecution.

• Medical reports or documentation covered or protected by HIPAA are exempt from public records and will not be provided.
